T-network

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The T-Netz was a free mailbox network based on the ZConnect protocol and offered by many mailboxes as a voluntary supplement to the Z-Netz . The creation of new news areas, the so-called boards , was in principle at the discretion of the sysop or mailbox operator, while it was voted on in the Z-Netz.

On the / T-NETZ boards, the " T " stood for "partially networked". / T-NETZ boards were often boards on special topics and therefore only available in certain mailboxes or boards that had not received a majority in votes in the Z-Netz . The distribution of individual / T-NETZ boards was accordingly very different. In 1995 the / T-NETZ / * boards were renamed / Z-NETZ / ALT / * and thus incorporated into the Z-Netz hierarchy. " ALT " stands for "alternative", analogous to the terms in Usenet . These boards still exist in this form today and can usually be reached via most Usenet servers .
