T-Online (spelling: t-online ) was the brand name of what was initially a separate online service from Deutsche Telekom AG . In 1995 the first services were started under this name and outsourced within a separate AG. Starting in 2005, the entire range was gradually outsourced to the T-Home division , initially as part of the DSL distribution and expansion. The news portal t-online.de , which was originally launched to promote T-Online's sales, was sold to Ströer Media in November 2015 .

On September 17, 2010, Deutsche Telekom AG published a technical announcement in the Federal Gazette about the improvement of the exchange ratio in connection with the merger of the former T-Online International AG with Deutsche Telekom AG.

In November 2015, Deutsche Telekom sold the website t-online.de and the marketer Interactive Media to Ströer Media . The e-mail service as well as the media and customer center will continue to be operated by Deutsche Telekom. The purchase price was around 300 million euros. The transaction took place by way of a capital increase by Ströer against contribution in kind by the two companies; Deutsche Telekom received an 11.6 percent stake in Ströer. In August 2016, t-online.de became part of Ströer Digital Publishing GmbH. The company is based in Frankfurt am Main . The new central editorial office is based in Berlin .

On March 25, 2019, the website received a new logo. For the first time, it no longer contains the typical Telekom T. All that remains of the magenta color is a small magenta dot, which is supposed to reflect the 24-year history of t-online.de .
