TR Ramadas

Trivandrum Ramakrishnan "TR" Ramadas (born March 30, 1955 in India ) is an Indian mathematician.

Life

Ramadas studied at the Indian Institute of Technology in Kanpur and received his doctorate in 1983 from the University of Mumbai with MS Narasimhan (Geometry of Nonabelian Gauge Fields). At that time he was at the Tata Institute of Fundamental Research . He is a Distinguished Professor at the Chennai Mathematics Institute and a Bose Fellow. Ramadas deals with algebraic geometry and mathematical physics (GUT models, Yang-Mills theories, Chern-Simons theory, conformal field theories, etc.).

Awards

In 1998 he received the Shanti Swarup Bhatnagar Prize . He is on the Council of the International Mathematical Union .
