The specialty of the TI-92 and what sets it apart from most other models is that it has a QWERTY keyboard , an 8-way directional pad and a computer algebra system. The computer algebra system, which is based on Derive , makes it possible to calculate with algebraic expressions. The functionality of the CAS ranges from transforming mathematical expressions and solving equations to differential and integral calculus.

This pocket calculator is / was (newer models released) due to its versatility and greater clarity for more complex mathematical tasks in higher schools, such as high schools, technical schools and universities.
