TSF is a private radio broadcaster in Portugal . It belongs to the Global Media Group and is based in Lisbon. TSF has regional offices in Porto , Alentejo , Algarve , Madeira and the Azores .

history

It was founded in 1989 first as TSF-Rádio Jornal , then as TSF-Rádio Notícias by some radio journalists in the form of a cooperative , with the newspaper O Jornal (a journalist publishing group) being a 34% member among other companies . The name TSF was chosen as an homage to the first name of the radio in Portugal, Telefonia Sem Fio (German: "wireless telephone", based on the early English radio name wireless telegraphy ). The first broadcast as TSF was broadcast on February 29, 1988, but it had been broadcast illegally because private radio stations were not yet allowed in Portugal at the time.

After a severe financial crisis, the transmitter 1994 20 employees were laid off, and Lusomundo, the media division of Portugal Telecom , took over the majority shareholding in now as a Portuguese public company trading under the name Rádio Notícias, Produções e Publicidade, SA . 22% stayed with the original members of the cooperative. After restructuring and privatization of Portugal Telecom in 1996 , Lusomundo emerged as its own media group, which in 2005 sold its Lusomundo Serviços division to the Controlinveste Group under Joaquim Oliveira , and since 2013 Global Media Group . This also includes Rádio Notícias and his TSF brand.
