Joaquim Francisco Alves Ferreira de Oliveira (born February 12, 1947 in Penafiel , Portugal ) is a Portuguese media tycoon .

In 1984 Joaquim Oliveira started the establishment of the company Olivedesportos , which was dedicated to the commercialization of TV broadcasting rights as well as advertising and marketing in sports. Twelve years later, Oliveira founded the Portuguese pay TV channel Sport TV , together with the TV channel RTP and the telecommunications sub-theme Portugal Telecom .

In 2000 he established a joint venture with Portugal Telecom called Sportinveste . This company mainly takes care of the commercial exploitation of the media rights of the three largest football clubs in the country, Benfica Lisbon , FC Porto and Sporting Lisbon .

In 2004, Joaquim Oliveira acquired 50% of the shares that RTP had in Sport TV, which was then taken over in equal parts by his Sportinveste and what was then PT Multimedia, now ZON Multimédia . In the meantime, Joaquim Oliveira founded his parent company Controlinveste , which advanced to a media giant in Portugal through further major acquisitions. The Controlinveste holding now owns two of Portugal's most important newspapers, Diário de Notícias and Jornal de Notícias , as well as the sports newspaper O Jogo and several television channels such as Sport TV and the radio station TSF .
