history

The association was founded in 1899. The football sections achieved their greatest successes in the 1950s and wrestling in the 2000s.

Wrestling

The wrestling department of TSV 1899 Benningen competes in the 2nd Bundesliga South in the 2009 season . The coach of the team from Württemberg is Edgar "Eddy" Thomas. The team's top performers are Felix Hagenbruch (up to 96 kg) and Jens Barth (up to 120 kg), as well as Rando Sauter (up to 55 kg / 60 kg) and Maciej Balawender (up to 84 kg) in the 2008 season. DRB referee assistant Antonio Silvestri was used at the 2007 World Cup in Baku. The team fights will be held in the sports hall in the Au, which was completed in 2008. The second team competes in the district league Unterland.

In 2010 TSV 1899 Benningen will host the German men's championships in free style.

In 2011, the TSV was sentenced to a fine of 8,000 euros before the last second league competition round for violations of fair play, as well as the forced transfer to the association league after the club - to avoid promotion to the wrestling Bundesliga - Deliberately lost three competitions in a row. The TSV appealed.

Soccer

TSV 1899 Benningen first received more attention in 1958, when the footballers were promoted to the 2nd amateur league Württemberg , and as a newcomer immediately came third. In the following year TSV won the championship with 53: 3 points and 102: 25 goals and was promoted to the newly founded 1st Amateur League North-Württemberg , the highest amateur league . The two brothers Rudi and Willi Entenmann , who later played in the Bundesliga with VfB Stuttgart , played a major role in this . Benningen was also able to establish himself quickly in the new league in the first season and ended up fourth. After they saved themselves from relegation in the 1961/62 season, this could not be prevented in the following season. As penultimate in the table, two points were missing from a non-relegation place.

In the period that followed, TSV 1899 Benningen was in the 2nd amateur league until it was relegated in 1968, after which it was only represented in lower class leagues. In the 2015/16 season, the club played as a promoted player in the eighth highest division, the district league, in the Enz / Murr district.

The most famous former players are Willi Entenmann and Rudi Entenmann . Both played as defenders at TSV 1899 Benningen. After relegation from the 1st amateur league in 1963, they moved to VfB Stuttgart , where Willi Entenmann was also a coach from 1982 to 1990.
