The Owschlag gymnastics and sports club from 1920 is a sports club from the community of Owschlag in the Rendsburg-Eckernförde district . He gained fame primarily through his handball women's team, which played in the 3rd division until the 2014/15 season .

History of the handball department

TSV Owschlag was founded in 1920 and in the same year already had a handball division. After the Second World War, the men's team was initially the most successful in the club: They rose to the Schleswig-Holstein Oberliga for the first time in the 1975/76 season and, after relegating again in the meantime (1979), established themselves there for a longer period of time. In 1988 TSV won the state championship, but failed in the promotion round to the Regionalliga Nord. Ten years later, the Rendsburger were relegated from the league and could not return to the top division afterwards.

The first women's team of the club rose to the league for the first time in 2001 and benefited from the successful youth work in the club (at the end of the 1990s, women won the state championship several times). She became national champion in 2006 and was promoted to the Northeast Regional Handball League . There, the TSV women quickly established themselves in the top group: They were runner-up in the first season and were able to repeat second place in 2008 and 2010. TSV was also runner-up in the newly established northern season of the 3rd division. For the 2012/13 season, they were divided into the Eastern season, which the club sharply criticized due to the significantly increased travel costs. Since 2014, the club has been back in the north season.

For the 2015/16 season, TSV merged with the parent clubs of HSG Kropp-Tetenhusen , which existed until 2014/15, TSV Kropp and TSV Germania Tetenhusen, to form the Owschlag-Kropp-Tetenhusen handball community (HG OKT).
