The grave TT77 ( T heban T omb - Theban grave number 77 ) is located in Thebes- West near the modern place Luxor in Egypt in the necropolis part, which is now called Sheikh Abd el-Qurna . The tomb belongs to the head of the work in the temple of Amun Ptahemhat, who lived and officiated under Thutmose IV .

The grave has been known since the beginning of the 19th century. In 1837, John Gardner Wilkinson published a copy of a banquet scene. In 1847 Émile Prisse d'Avesnes published the same scene with a further register. Jean-François Champollion copied some inscriptions and noted that the tomb was very destroyed. Karl Richard Lepsius copied other inscriptions. More visitors came in the 20th century who drew or photographed scenes.

The grave owner was a certain Ptahemhat. He had various titles and was a child of the harem and head of work in the Temple of Amun , but also head of fields of Amun and a fan . The wife of Ptahemhat was a certain Meryt. A brother named Nebsen is also mentioned in the grave.

The decoration of the burial chapel was never completed. Shortly after Ptahemhat's death, the chief chief of the sculptors of the Lord of the Two Countries , Roy, usurped parts of the grave decoration and had his name affixed there.

As already indicated, the grave was not well preserved at the beginning of the 19th century. The burial chapel, carved into the rock, is entered from the south. One arrives in a transverse hall. It follows in the north, exactly opposite the entrance, a longitudinal hall and then again a smaller transverse hall with a niche in the north. The decoration of the chapel is painted. The scenes preserved show various banquets. One scene shows King Thutmose IV sitting under a canopy. There is also a representation of the goddess Renenutet .
