TV JOJ is a private television broadcaster in Slovakia . With a 17 percent market share, it is the second largest private broadcaster in the country.
It was founded on March 2, 2002 and split off from TV Global , which has broadcast since March 25, 2000. On Slovak television he is a competitor of the TV Markíza, which was founded earlier . The founding director was Vladimír Železný, the former head of the Czech television station TV Nova.
Like TV Markíza, JOJ also broadcasts series mostly of US origin (e.g. CSI: Miami , CSI: Las Vegas , Prison Break , Bones ), but unlike its competitor, it also broadcasts domestic Slovak series such as Panelák (a Sitcom ), Mafstory (sitcom; Mafia parody), Kutyil sro (sitcom; Hungarian repairman in Slovakia) or Profesionáli (sitcom in a police station).
In 2008, the second TV channel JOJ Plus was founded, which specializes in older films and series.
Long after it was founded, the station was in third place in the Slovak television market, behind TV Markíza and the first channel of the STV ; he has been second since around 2007. The proportion was 18.6% in May 2010.
