meaning

The writing board is a medium traditionally used in teaching institutions. The board picture must meet the requirements of the learning group, but also those of the didactic construction. Your goal is to prepare the content of the lesson for the pupils (depending on the context, students, etc.) so that they can understand the results long after the lesson. In subject didactics there are therefore a number of methodological treatises on their use.

Structure of the board picture

The blackboard must be set up in such a way that students can copy it in a time appropriate for their age group. The younger the learner, the less scope it should be. The blackboard always stands in the tension between the formulation of entire sentences (to train writing skills) and the economy of time. In contrast to the pupil's sheet, there are usually side boards on the blackboard, on which, depending on the teacher's preference, explanations, tasks and aids can be written down that the pupils do not have to take over into the exercise book. In addition to simple structuring options as a list and table, symbols such as arrows (especially for logical conclusions and conclusions) or lightning bolts (to identify contradictions) can also be used. With frames, important information or summaries can be marked or highlighted in a similar way to what is printed in bold, for example to learn everything important (formulas, grammar rules, etc.) for class work at a glance.

Attachments on the board

Magnetic boards can be used to attach pictures and posters or lighter objects, so-called applications , to the board. On other boards this can be done with adhesive tape or something similar. Unlike when it is attached to a wall, the picture can be integrated into the board picture. The pupils cannot take over the picture in their exercise book in a timely manner, but it can serve as an aid in the cognitive process.
