Tagab is a district in the Afghan province of Kapisa .

In 2006 the district had 71,700 inhabitants.

There is a military base in Tagab that is used jointly by the French and Afghan armies (as of January 2012). On January 20, 2012, an Afghan soldier shot and killed five members of the French army there and injured 15, some seriously. In response, French President Nicolas Sarkozy ordered the suspension of all military operations in Afghanistan. In addition, Afghan soldiers were denied access to French bases. Joint patrols and training programs were also discontinued. On July 16, 2012, a military court in Kabul sentenced the 21-year-old perpetrator to death.
