Official seal of the last Tibetan regent
Tagdrag Ngawang Sungrab Thutob (* 1874 in Tölung Dechen ; † 1952 ) was a monk of the Gelug School of Tibetan Buddhism and ruler of Tibet from February 1941 to November 1950 . He was the third Tagdrag Rinpoche ( Trülku ) of the Tagdrag Monastery . He was one of the teachers of the 14th Dalai Lama , Tendzin Gyatsho . As Regent he followed at the beginning of 1941, the fifth reting Rinpoche , Jamphel Yeshe Gyaltsen , with whom he later came into conflict (the so-called reting - incident ).
