Tahsin Taha also Tehsîn Taha (born September 25, 1941 in Amediye , † May 28, 1995 in the Netherlands ) was one of the most famous Kurdish singers. He comes from a branch line of the Kurdish princely family of the Badinan .

He came to music through his father Taha Mohammed, who was a teacher; as a child he especially loved the songs of the Kurdish folk singer Mohammed Arif Ceziri (better known in Iraq as Mohammed Arif Cizrawi). Due to his father's job, his family moved several times. Tahsin Taha finished high school in Mosul .

His songs were first broadcast on Baghdad's official radio station in 1958 . In 1960 he worked as a singing teacher at the theater. On September 11, 1961, he left Baghdad for Zaxo to join Mustafa Barzani's uprising. In 1963 he was arrested for taking part in a Kurdish student demonstration. In 1964 he was released from prison. He then lived in his hometown of Amediye for several years. In 1970 he returned to Baghdad after a peace agreement between the government and the Kurds and married in 1974. He was the father of four sons.

On March 13, 1994, he traveled to the Netherlands to attend the Newroz celebrations. On May 28, 1995, he died of a heart attack shortly before a planned heart operation . He is buried in his hometown of Amediye in the Kurdish part of Iraq .

His songs are still highly valued today; some are among the most important of Kurdish folk music .
