Tahsin Yazıcı
Tahsin Yazıcı (* 1892 in Bitola , Macedonia (in the Ottoman Empire), † 1970 in Ankara , Turkey ) was a Turkish general and politician .
Life
In 1912 Yazıcı graduated from the officers' school. He later took part in World War I and fought in the Turkish War of Liberation . In 1949 he was promoted to brigadier general. In October 1950 he took part in the Korean War with the 5,000-strong Turkish Brigade on the US side . During the Korean War he was promoted to major general.
He returned to Turkey in November 1951 and retired the following year. From 1954 to 1960 he was a member of the Democratic Party in Parliament as a politician. After the military coup on May 27, 1960 , he was sentenced to five years in prison, but was released thanks to a pardon law.
