The Turkish Brigade ( Turkish : Türk Tugayı ) was an infantry unit of the Turkish Armed Forces during the Korean War .
background
On July 25, 1950, the Turkish government decided to send three infantry battalions and one artillery battalion with a total strength of 5,000 men to fight under the flag of the United Nations in the Korean War. This made Turkey the second country after the USA to follow the request made in the 83rd UN Security Council resolution. The Turks fought with the South Koreans against North Korea and China and offered immense resistance.

721 soldiers, including 37 officers, from the Turkish Brigade died during the fighting, a further 2,147 were injured and 175 are missing. 234 soldiers were taken prisoner of war.
