Tahta ( Arabic طهطا, DMG Ṭahṭā ) is a city in Lower Egypt in the Sauhadsch Governorate with approx. 126,000 inhabitants. The city is located on the west bank of the Nile . Two famous Coptic monasteries are located near Tahta, the White Monastery and the Red Monastery .
