Tai Pong ( Chinese  傣 绷 语 , Pinyin Dǎibēngyǔ ) is one of the four written languages of the Dai , one of the 55 officially recognized national minorities of the People's Republic of China .

As spoken languages, Tai Pong and Tai Nüa are almost identical. However, they are written with significantly different scripts and are therefore not mutually understandable in their written form .

distribution

Tai Pong is used by the Tai Dai ("southern Tai"), a subgroup of the Tai Daikong ("Dehong-Tai"). They live in the traditional communities of Müang Khon, Müang Ti and Müang La in the Dehong Autonomous District of Yunnan Province in southern China.

font

Tai Pong, like the Shan language across the border in Shan State of Myanmar , is written using a modified Burmese alphabet .
