Tail Concerto is a 3D - action-adventure game from CyberConnect2 for the PlayStation was developed. The game was published by Atlus on April 16, 1998 in Japan , by Namco Bandai on August 31, 1999 in North America and the same year in France . In the winter of 1998 it was sold as a demo using a so-called Jampack . It is the first of three games from the Little Tail Bronx series alongside Mamoru-kun and Solatorobo . The latter Nintendo DSGame is seen as the spiritual successor to Tail Concerto, due to similar gameplay and game world, as well as represented Tail Concerto characters.

Gameplay

The Tail Concertos game world is called the Kingdom of Prairie , a place inhabited by anthromorphic cats and dogs. Both races are at war with each other, which ultimately becomes the content of the game. The title song Tail Concertos was written by the Japanese singer-songwriter Akiko Yoshida with the stage name Kokia . The aspiring singer made her debut with her first song For little Tail, which was never released on CD, but became the theme music Tail Concertos. In all Western versions of the game, except the French version, the theme music has been replaced with a different instrumental composition.

The background music for the game was composed by Chikayo Fukuda and Seizo Nakata , who already contributed to the soundtrack of .hack // Infection and later Solatorobo . Several talents like Amanda Winn Lee and Lani Minella have contributed as voice actors.

The game world as well as the characters were drawn by the famous anime artist and artist Nobuteru Yūki .

criticism

In spite of high investments of money and the development that was ahead of the curve at that time, the game could not achieve the desired and hoped for success and suffered from a lack of sales, which led to the discontinuation of further production at Tail Concerto. Several attempts by CyberConnect2 in 2000, 2003 and 2004 with the proposal and new concepts for a successor under Tail Concerto 2 were rejected by Namco Bandai , who own the rights to Tail Concerto.
