Takahiro Shimotaira ( Japanese 下 平 隆 宏 , Shimotaira Takahiro ; born December 18, 1970 in Aomori Prefecture ) is a former Japanese football player and coach.

Career

Shimotaira learned to play soccer on the school team at Gonohe High School . He signed his first contract in 1990 with Hitachi (today: Kashiwa Reysol). In 1994 he was runner-up with the club in the Japan Football League and rose to the J1 League . In 1999 he reached the final of the J.League Cup . For the club he completed 244 games. In 2001 he moved to league rivals FC Tokyo . For the club he completed 39 first division games. In 2003 he returned to Kashiwa Reysol . For the club he completed 33 first division games. At the end of 2004 he ended his career as a soccer player.
