Takamisakari Seiken ( Japanese 高見 盛 精 彦 ; born May 12, 1976 in Itayanagi , Kitatsugaru County , Aomori Prefecture , as Seiken Katō ) is a former Japanese sumo wrestler .
Takamisakari belonged to the wrestling stable Azumazeki of the former Sekiwake Takamiyama , to which the former yokozuna Akebono also belonged.
He made his debut at the spring tournament ( Haru Basho ) in 1999 as a so-called Makushita -Tsukedashi. He rose quickly up the ranks and made his debut in the Makuuchi Division at the tournament in Nagoya the following year , in which he achieved a good 10-5 result and received the special prize for fighting spirit. But in September he suffered a serious knee injury, which resulted in an injury break of several months. He therefore had to relegate back to the Makushita division. In March 2002 he rose again to the makuuchi division and six months later reached the rank of komusubi , his highest rank, which he should regain only once (November 2003). After that, Takamisakari moved mostly in the midfield of the maegashi ranks before relegating to the juryo division in September 2011 . He ended his career in January 2013.
Although only moderately successful, Takamisakari was one of the particularly popular sumo fighters (rikishi). This was partly due to his spectacular, robot-like movements while he was warming up on the ring. He was also characterized by a great will to fight, even when he had injury problems. That is why a lot of extra sponsorship money (so-called Kensho-kin) was suspended when he met him.
His fighting style was relatively simple. In most of his fights, he prevailed with Yorikiri .
