Takanonami Sadahiro ( Japanese貴 ノ 浪 貞 博, actually Sadahiro Namioka ; born October 27, 1971 in Misawa ; † June 20, 2015 in Osaka ) was a Japanese sumo wrestler .
Takanonami was named Ōzeki in 1994 together with Musashimaru . Although he was able to achieve some good results, he succeeded only in 1996 his first Yusho (優勝). Although he won another tournament in 1997, he was never considered a serious yokozuna candidate. Throughout his career he was overshadowed by his stable mates Takanohana and Wakanohana . His defensive style was unique and with his long arms he was a master of Kimedashi . In 1999 his performance decreased noticeably. In 2000 he was able to regain the Ōzeki rank, but he had to spend most of the last four years of his career as a maegashira . On the third day of the 2004 Natsu Basho, he announced his resignation. Most recently, he also had to struggle with health problems that resulted in a hospital stay of several days. He was still an oyakata employee of the sumo association.
In his active days he weighed about 170 kg with a height of 1.96 m.
