Takao Kobayashi

Takao Kobayashi ( Japanese 小林 隆 男 , Kobayashi Takao ; * 1961 in Ashikaga ) is a Japanese amateur astronomer .

Kobayashi at Oizumi Observatory using the CCD date technology well over 2,000 asteroids discovered, including some Jupiter - Trojans and near-Earth asteroids of Amor type , eg. B. (7358) Oze . The asteroid (3500) Kobayashi is dedicated to him.

With the periodic comet P / 1997 B1 (Kobayashi) named after him, he achieved another success: originally classified as an asteroid, further observations however showed the coma and a tail typical of comets . P / 1997 B1 (Kobayashi) is the first comet ever to be discovered by an amateur astronomer with a CCD camera.
