Takatsukasa Kanetada

Takatsukasa Kanetada ( Japanese 鷹 司 兼 忠 ; * 1262 ; † September 27, 1301 ) was a scion of the noble Takatsukasa family , descended from Konoe Iezane , who was considered one of the go-sekke worthy enough to provide rulers for Japanese rulers.

He was the son of the son of Takatsukasa Kanehira and a younger brother of Takatsukasa Mototada . At court he was regent for Fushimi and Go-Fushimi . Elevated to third court rank at ten , he was Gon-Chūnagon at eleven . In 1288 he was appointed Naidaijin , in the eleventh month of the same year the elevation to the following first rank. A year later he received the positions of Udaijin ("Chancellor on the right") and tutor to the Crown Prince. Shortly after his rise to head of the family, he became regent (1291–96). In 1301/8/23 he took the tonsure and died two days later.

He was married to a daughter of Konoe Motohira . His sons were u. a. Fuyuhira, Fuyutsune ( 冬 経 ; 1282–1319), Kanefuyu ( 兼 冬 , 1289–1308). He also adopted Motonori ( 基 教 ).
