Take It Easy, Old House is a song released in 1979 by the country band Truck Stop . Truck Stop competed with the song at Ein Lied für Jerusalem and took second place there.

Origin and content

The song was composed by Lucius Reichling, who also sang the song. The text comes from Claus-Dieter Eckardt. Like almost all Truck Stop releases, it was produced by Joe Menke and Volker Heintzen in Menke's Studio Maschen.

The song deals with the topic of idleness using the example of a long sleep. With the song, the band took part in Ein Lied für Jerusalem , the official preliminary decision for the Eurovision Song Contest 1979 . There Truck Stop came second behind Dschinghis Khan from the group of the same name and ahead of Vogel der Nacht by Paola .

Publication and reception

The song was initially only released as a single with Hanna's husband's B-side and with the imprint "From the German final for the GRAND PRIX D'EUROVISION". As the highest chart placement, it reached number 38 in the German single charts and was represented in the German charts for a total of 12 weeks.

The song did not appear on any studio album, but was later released on many of the band's compilations, the first time on Not To Brake! from 1982. It is also featured on numerous samplers in the year of its release and the years thereafter. It was also listed on The Great Price and the ZDF Hit Parade . In the latter, it was the band's first appearance on June 11, 1979 (number twelve), after they had been featured several times with the previous singles The Woman with the Belt and I Would Like to Hear Dave Dudley , but not in the show occurred. The band also performed the song again in the following broadcasts on July 9th (twelfth place) and August 6th (ninth place). She was on the show with him for a total of five months. On October 27, 1983, the group also appeared with the song in the special broadcast Super Hit Parade - hits that you won't forget .

In 1985 the band released an English version of the song on the album Fest im Sattel . On the anniversary album 30 Years Truck Stop , Lucius Reichling performed the song together with Markus Wolfahrt from the Klostertalern .
