Takehiro Watanabe ( Japanese 渡 部 剛 弘 , Watanabe Takehiro ; born July 13, 1993 in Aizu-Wakamatsu , Fukushima Prefecture ) is a Japanese Nordic combiner .

Career

On March 8, 2013 Takehiro Watanabe made his debut in the Nordic Combined World Cup at the World Cup in Lahti and finished 45th in the 15th individual competition of the 2012/13 season . In the following season he was able to collect his first World Cup points at the World Cup in Lahti. Watanabe finished the Gundersen competition in 27th place and thus collected 3rd World Cup points. At the end of the 2013/14 season he finished 78th overall with a total of 4 World Cup points.

Watanabe took part in the 2015 Winter Universiade in the 2014/15 season and won the silver medal behind the German team together with Gō Yamamoto and Aguri Shimizu . In the mass start competition he missed a medal with fifth place. Watanabe also took part for Japan in the 2015 Nordic World Ski Championships in Falun and started the Gunderson competition from the large hill, where he finished 28th.

On February 9, 2016 Watanabe celebrated his first top ten placement when he finished ninth in the Gunderson competition on the large hill at the World Cup in Trondheim . He achieved his two best placings in the World Cup in the 2016/17 season . At the home World Cup in Sapporo , he finished both competitions in seventh place.
