Takeo Hoshi

Takeo Hoshi ( Japanese 星 岳 雄 , Hoshi Takeo ) is a Japanese economist and university professor .

Career, research and teaching

Hoshi studied social science at the University of Tokyo , where he graduated in 1983 as a Bachelor of Liberal Arts (English for 教養 学士 , kyōyō gakushi ). He then went to the United States . He graduated from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 1988 with a Ph.D. in economics. He then followed a call from the University of California, San Diego . First to 1994 assistant professor , he was to 2000 Associate Professor , before he was appointed a full professor there. At the same time, he held visiting professorships at various Japanese universities.

The focus of Hoshi's work lies in the area of ​​research into financial systems , with the Japanese financial system playing a central role. He is also interested in monetary policy and corporate governance .

Hoshis has been a member of the American Economic Association since 1988 and joined the Japanese Economic Association in 2002 . In 2005 he received the Nakahara Prize from this . He was Dean of the School of International Relations and Pacific Studies at UCSD between August and December 2006 and between February and August 2009.
