The Schleuse valley bridge or Schleusetalbrücke is a 688 m long bridge on the federal highway 73 in southern Thuringia .

The structure is located between the Schleusingen and Eisfeld- Nord motorway junctions near Oberrod and spans the valley of the lock with state road 1142 from Oberrod to Waldau at a maximum height of 40 m with ten fields . The overpass is curved in plan. The bridge with two separate superstructures was built between 2005 and 2007.

Foundation and substructures

The pillars are flat . The full cross-section of the maximum 36 m high columns is V-shaped. To accommodate the bearings , the octagonal cross-section at the pier head below the superstructure expands into two rectangular cross-sections.

Superstructures

The two adjacent superstructures of the steel composite bridge have the continuous beam in the longitudinal direction as a structural system . Transversely two-web are T-beam cross sections available. The two main girders of the T-beams consist of airtight, welded steel box girders, which are haunched with construction heights of 2.5 m to 4.5 m and are 7.0 m apart. The connection with the 28.5 m wide reinforced concrete deck is made by head bolt dowels . The spans of the two 10-span superstructures are 55 m, 72.5 m, 3 × 80 m, 75 m, 72.5 m, 67 m, 58 m and 40 m.

execution

Assembly of the lock bridge

The steel boxes of the main girders were delivered by truck . With a truck crane , these were then raised in 36 cycles per superstructure and then welded together. Finally, the reinforced concrete carriageway slab was produced in sections using the pilgrim step method using two formwork carriages , with the carriageway slab being produced first in the middle of the field and then the gaps above the support areas.

accident

On December 28, 2010, a car that had skid and crossed the guardrail and the railing due to a snow wall at the side fell into the depths. The passenger was killed and the driver was seriously injured.
