Talgat Musabayev Amankeldiuly ( Kazakh -kyrillisch Талғат Аманкелдіұлы Мұсабаев , Russian Талгат Амангельдиевич Мусабаев * 7. January 1951 in Qarghaly , Kazakh SSR ) is a former Kazakh cosmonaut .

Space flights

Mussabaev was flight engineer on Soyuz TM-19 flight in 1994 and commander of Soyuz TM-27 flight in 1998.

He was also the Soyuz commander in the space flight of the first space tourist Dennis Tito . On April 28, 2001, he took off for the International Space Station with Soyuz TM-32 . Two days later, on April 30, the spacecraft docked at the station at 7:59 a.m. UTC. After almost 6 working days, Mussabaev and his two colleagues landed with Soyuz TM-31 on May 6, 2001 in the Kazakh steppe.

After the astronaut work

Since March 2007 he has been director of Kazakhstan's National Space Agency KazCosmos . On January 20, 2016, he was also appointed Advisor to the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan with a term until December 31, 2017. Mussabaev is Lieutenant General in the Kazakh Air Force and Major General in the Russian Air Force.

Mussabaev is married and has two children.
