Tallboy

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Tallboy is a special sail on sailing yachts , namely a staysail that is set between the forestay and mast when a spinnaker is driven at the same time .

The Tallboy is a very narrow sail and improves the flow of air around the mast towards the mainsail . Therefore, the mainsail can work more effectively. The Tallboy is usually used when there is a lot of wind, on larger regatta yachts. When cruising , however, the tallboy doesn't play a role.
