The Divor dam ( Portuguese Barragem do Divor ) is located in the Alentejo region of Portugal in the Évora district . It dams the Divor , a left (southern) tributary of the Sorraia to a reservoir (port. Albufeira da Barragem do Divor ). The small town of Arraiolos is about four kilometers northwest of the dam.

The dam was completed in 1965. It is used for irrigation. The dam is owned by the Associação de Beneficiários do Divor .

Barrier structure

The barrier structure is a dam with a height of 23 m above the foundation level (21 m above the river bed). The crest of the dam lies at a height of 263.6 m above sea level . The length of the dam crest is 636 m and its width 7 m. The volume of the dam is 255,000 m³.

The dam has both a bottom outlet and a flood relief . A maximum of 4.2 m³ / s can be discharged via the bottom outlet, and a maximum of 45 m³ / s via the flood discharge. The design flood is 310 m³ / s.

Reservoir

With a normal storage target of 261.4 m (maximum 262.2 m at high water), the reservoir extends over an area of ​​around 2.39 km² and holds 11.9 million m³ of water - 11.89 million m³ of this can be used .
