The Jesenice Dam ( Vodní nádrž Jesenice in Czech ) is located east of the city of Cheb in the Czech Republic . She dams the Wondreb .
The construction of the dam took place between 1957 and 1961. In the wake of flooding the village Jesenice (was Jesenitz ) abandoned and on the banks of the dam from the old site was east a new settlement. Also Dřenice sank down to the church and some houses in the reservoir.
The 20.47 m high dam is located in the area of the Okrouhlá municipality . The dam crest has a length of 753.1 m and is 11 m wide. The dam serves primarily as a process water reservoir and for recreational purposes. The Skalka and Jesenice waterworks form a common water management system.
In addition, the dam is used by two small power plants to generate electricity. The small generation plant Malá vodní elektrárna I (MVE I) Jesenice with a type DE 450 - S Sigmaturbine is located in the lower outlet of the dam. The small power plant MVE II Jesenice in the foundation of the tower consists of four turbines of the same type. The total output of MVE I and II is 300 kW.
The dam holds 52.75 million m³ of water, its reservoir has an area of 760 hectares and extends over 12 km to Nový Hrozňatov . The pilgrimage chapel Maria Loreto in Starý Hrozňatov is located south of the reservoir . The Plzeň – Cheb railway crosses the reservoir between Velká Všeboř and Malá Všeboř .
