The Skalka Dam ( Vodní nádrž Skalka in Czech ) is located west of the city of Cheb in the Czech Republic . She dams the Eger .
Between 1962 and 1964 the dam was built in the Egertal, which was designed to supply the town of Cheb with drinking water and also to protect against flooding. The Horka dam took over its function as a drinking water reservoir in 1969 . Since then, Skalka has served as a water storage tank for the industry in the Cheb area and was released for recreational purposes. The Skalka and Jesenice waterworks form a common water management system.
There have been two small power plants at the dam since 2001 . The Malá vodní elektrárna (MVE) Skalka, built between 1998 and 2000 on the right bank of the river next to the dam, consists of two horizontal Kaplan type S turbines, each with an output of 370 kW. The smallest generation system MVE Skalka - mikrozdroj has a signature bin TYPE DE 450 S with 18 kW output.
The dam is located at the southern foot of the Spitalsky vrch ( Spittelberg ) in the western urban area of Cheb and has a height of 14.6 m. The dam crest is 114 m long and 4 m wide. The dam holds 13.66 million m³ of water, its reservoir extends 9.2 kilometers to Pomezná below the confluence of the Röslau on the German border.
The Zelená hora ( Grünberg ) with a Bismarck tower rises south of the reservoir . In the northeast is the Komorní hůrka ( Kammerbühl ).
