The Horka Dam ( Vodní nádrž Horka in Czech ) is a drinking water dam in the Czech Republic .
The dam is located in northwestern Bohemia and dams the Libocký potok ( Leibitschbach ). It is located on the territory of the Nový Kostel , Habartov and Krajková municipalities and was built between 1966 and 1970. Its construction was necessary because the original to the drinking water supply of Cheb built Eger dam Skalka no longer met the requirements for drinking water production, because of unfavorable water quality.
The dam is located near the village of Horka and is 40.7 m high. In it is the turbine of a hydropower plant . The storage space extends in the narrow Libocký potok valley and holds 19.23 million m³ of water. The dam crest is 236 m long and 5.45 m wide. The water surface has an area of 130.24 ha.
The traffic jam that occurred in 1969 flooded the village of Leopoldovy Hamry. The villages of Smrčí and Svažec in the catchment area of the dam were evacuated and extinguished. Access to the facility is not possible; Drinking water protection zone I begins 300 m below the dam. Access is also forbidden above road 21030.
