The dam La Viña ( Spanish Represa La Viña or Dique La Viña ) is a dam with hydroelectric power plant in the province of Córdoba , Argentina . It dams the Río de los Sauces to a reservoir. The dam is used to generate electricity. Construction began in 1939. It was completed in June 1944.

Barrier structure

The barrier structure is a concrete arch dam with a height of 106 m. The length of the top of the wall is 317 m. The width of the dam is 35 m at the base and 4 m at the top. Its volume is 184,160 m³. The dam has a flood relief on the left side through which a maximum of 1200 m³ / s can be discharged.

Reservoir

When the reservoir is full, it extends over an area of ​​around 10.5 km² and holds 230 million m³ of water.

power plant

The power plant's machine house is about 50 m downstream of the dam. The installed capacity is 16  MW . The two Francis turbines have a maximum output of 8 MW each. The average annual production is given as 36 million  kWh . The power plant was built from 1952 to 1959. The grid connection took place on February 28, 1959.
