The Podhora Dam , formerly Podhornteich (Czech Vodní nádrž Podhora ) is a drinking water reservoir in the Czech Republic .
geography
It is located four kilometers southwest of the city of Teplá at 693 m above sea level. M. in the Tepler highlands on the corridors of Teplá and Ovesné Kladruby . The dammed water is the Teplá . The reservoir is located at the southeastern foot of the Podhorní vrch ( Podhorn , 847 m). The Mariánské Lázně – Karlovy Vary railway runs along the southern bank .
history
The Podhornteich was the pin Tepl applied as a pond. During the flood of November 24, 1890, the dam of the pond broke, causing great damage in the city of Tepl .
Between 1952 and 1956 the old Podhorský rybník ( Podhornteich ) was expanded as a drinking water reservoir for the greater Mariánské Lázně area and a pumping station was built. Between 1974 and 1982 a new pumping station was built.

The dam located to the west above the village of Mrázov ( Prosau ) has a height of 10.18 m. The dam crest is 280 meters long and 4.4 meters wide. The reservoir has a water surface of 95.02 hectares and holds 3.03 million cubic meters of water. In the dry season, water is supplied to the Marienbad dam .
