Tam Đảo

Tam Đảo (Three Islands) is a health resort in Vietnam .

Tam Đảo is located in the province of Vinh Phuc , about 90 km northwest of Hà Nội on a plateau 950 m above sea level, in the middle of the Tam Đảo mountains. It is often referred to as the " Đà Lạt of the North" and is now a popular destination for day trips from Hà Nội.

The place was built from 1902 as a health resort and summer resort for the wealthy French colonists, to which Vietnamese - except as litter-bearers or maids - were not allowed.

The temperatures here are the whole year about 6-8 ° C lower than in the plane. Even in midsummer, temperatures rarely exceed 26 ° C.

The Tam-Đảo Plateau (Three Islands) owes its name to the three mountains Thien Thi (1375 m), Thach Ban (1388 m) and Phu Nghia (1400 m), which often protrude like islands from the sea of lower-lying clouds.

One of the attractions of Tam Đảo is the Suoi Bạc Waterfall (Silver Stream Waterfall).
