Tamara Safonova ( Russian Тамара Степановна Сафонова born Fedossowa ( Федосова ), 1966-1970 Pogoschewa ( Погожева ); * 24. June 1946 in Moscow ) is a former Soviet water jumper , which in 1968 won the Olympic silver medal in springboard diving.

Tamara Fedosova took part in the 1964 Olympic Games in Tokyo under her maiden name . In artificial jumping from the three-meter board, she took fifth place behind Ingrid Engel-Krämer and three Americans. Two years later she took third place at the 1966 European Championship behind Wera Baklanowa and Delia Reinhardt from the GDR.

At the 1968 Olympic Games in Mexico City, Tamara Pogoschewa and Ingrid Gulbin (formerly Engel-Krämer) again jumped three American women among the top five athletes. Sue Gossick won the 1964 Olympic champion ahead of Pogoschewa and Keala O'Sullivan , who was 0.07 points behind Pogoschewa in the end.

As Tamara Safonowa she won bronze at the 1970 European Championships behind Heidi Becker and Marina Janicke . After she had missed the final at the 1972 Olympic Games in Munich as 17th, she returned to the medal positions in 1974 when she won her third bronze medal in a row at the European Championship, this time behind Ulrika Knape and Irina Kalinina .
