Tamara Thierbach

Tamara Thierbach (born February 3, 1953 in Weimar ) is a German politician ( Die Linke ).

Life

Thierbach completed a degree in philosophy until 1976. She then worked at the Institute for Marxism-Leninism at the University of Architecture and Building Weimar until 1980, and then until the political change as a graduate philosopher at the Institute for Marxism-Leninism at the Medical Academy in Erfurt . Thierbach was a member of the SED , which was renamed the PDS . After the institute was closed in 1990, she worked as a saleswoman.

Thierbach was then a member of the Thuringian state parliament from 1990 until her early retirement in 2006 . Most recently she was directly elected in the constituency of Erfurt IV . She also stood in 1994 in the European and local elections held at the same time on June 12th for the office of Lord Mayor of the city of Erfurt. Here she was able to unite 19,622 votes, which corresponded to a percentage of 18.654% and was thus in third place of the applicants behind the victorious Manfred Ruge (CDU) and Huber Peter (SPD).

Thierbach has been the mayor of Erfurt and department head for social affairs, education and culture since 2006 .

Thierbach is the granddaughter of the SPD / SED politician August Frölich . She is married, has two children and lives in Weimar.
