Tamir Cohen ( Hebrew תמיר כהן; * March 4, 1984 in Tel Aviv-Jaffa ) is an Israeli soccer player .

Career

Like his father, Tamir began his career at the top Israeli club Maccabi Tel Aviv . In 2003 he won the Israeli championship with the club , and in 2005 he won the State Cup . In January 2007 Cohen moved to league rivals Maccabi Netanja , but left the club again at the end of the year and moved to English first division side Bolton Wanderers for a transfer fee of £ 650,000 . At Bolton he had a contract until June 30, 2011 which was not extended after the expiry.

In the summer of 2011 Tamir Cohen returned to Israel and signed a contract with Maccabi Haifa .

National team

Cohen came to numerous missions in Israeli youth national teams. The midfielder made his debut in the Israeli senior team in October 2007 in the European Championship qualification against Croatia.
