Tammaritu

Tammaritu was an Elamite king and brother of Urtak .

After the defeat and death of Urtak , the Assyrians intervened more and more in Elam's politics. Aššur-bani-apli set Tammaritu as king of Hidula . In 652 BC BC Humban-nikaš III rose. , King of Madaktu and Susa together with the Babylonian king Šamaš-šuma-ukin against the Assyrians, but lost a battle. Thereupon Tammaritu rose against Humban-nikaš III. and dethroned him in order to reunite with Šamaš-šuma-ukin and turn against the Assyrians again. In one of the following battles, the ruler was dethroned by his general Indabibi and then sent to Nineveh . In 647, Aššur-bani-apli again marched against Elam, devastating and looting numerous cities. Umbahabua ruled here, on the run from the Assyrian army. Aššur-bani-apli tried to use Tammaritu as king of Elam.

There were various battles in the course of which Susa in the year 647 BC. Was plundered. Tammaritu was again captured and taken to Nineveh . There, as the loser, he had to pull the Aššur-bani-apli's wagon.
