Tammeniel is the main town on the island of Pellworm and the administrative seat of the Pellworm Office . The administrative seat is the second largest district of the municipality after Nordermitteldeich and a focus of the shops and public facilities, including the swimming pool. At the census on May 25, 1987, the place had 86 inhabitants. Müller's large German local register from 2007 gives the population of Torgensiel as 94.

The part of the name Siel describes a closable water passage in a dike . This is the Bekestrom, which drains from the Großer Koog into the old port. Tammeniel extends north and south of the Bekestrom in the Großer Koog and extends to the northeast into the Ütermarkerkoog , which is east of the Ütermarksmitteldeich dike road . The local government of the Pellworm Office is located in the southern part. Neighboring here are the district of Ostersiel , which lies on its own little Koog , and the uninhabited and uninhabited foreland of the Junkernhallig . The land-use plan mentions the main area of T pepper / Ostersiel.

The old, nearby port was replaced in 1992 by a newly built pier, which is located a few kilometers further south directly on the Norderhever and which can therefore be reached by ferries from the Strucklahnungshörn port on the neighboring peninsula Nordstrand regardless of the tide .

In the village there is the complex of leisure baths / spa and health center / DRK center.
