Tanahbesar (also known as Wokam ) is one of the four main islands of the Aru Islands , an Indonesian group of islands about 150 km south of New Guinea in the Pacific Arafura Sea .
Tanahbesar is only separated from the islands of Kola in the north and Kobroor in the south by narrow waterways . These are called Sisirwatoe River and Manoembai River.
The approximately 1600 km² large island is geographically part of the Moluccas , politically to the Indonesian southern province of Maluku .
