Dorothy Janis
Dorothy Janis (born February 19, 1910 in Dallas , Texas , † March 10, 2010 in Phoenix , Arizona ) was an American silent film actress .
Career
Her brief film career began in 1927 when she visited her cousin who was making a film for Fox . She stood out for her good looks and was asked to do a screen test. Janis made five films in the following years, four of which were silent. She became particularly famous on the side of Ramón Novarro in The Pagan (1929), which was filmed in French Polynesia . In 1930, after her only sound film, the unsuccessful Lummox , she ended her career and married the musician Wayne King . She was married to him for 53 years, until his death in 1985.
Most recently Janis lived in Paradise Valley , Arizona . There she died on March 10, 2010 at the age of 100.
