Tannenberg Chapel (2013)

The Tannenberg Chapel is a chapel in the Haltern district of Lippramsdorf -Tannenberg in the Hohe Mark-Westmünsterland Nature Park . The small votive church , a round building made of quarry stone with a tent roof , was built in 1962 on the site of a previous building mentioned for the first time in 1614 and is dedicated to St. Anna .

history

The new chapel was built on the basis of a vow made by the Tannenberg-Holt neighborhood for the return of five men who had been taken hostage by rebellious Russian slave laborers in the last days of World War II . After they returned unharmed, the chapel was built as a token of thanks. On the occasion of the 50th anniversary, the chapel was renovated and a Holy Mass was celebrated in it in July 2012 under the direction of Former Bishop Reinhard Lettmann .
