Tano Zolow

Tano Zolow , actually Tano Zolow Georgiev , ( Bulgarian Тано Цолов ; born June 27, 1918 in Tschomakowzi ; † April 26, 1990 in Sofia ) was a Bulgarian politician.

Life

Zolow joined the Bulgarian Communist Party in 1940 . He studied economics. He was imprisoned in prison from 1942 to 1944. In April 1944, he joined the partisans during World War II . From 1952 to 1959 he was Bulgarian Minister for Heavy Industry. In 1954 he became a candidate and in 1957 a member of his party's central committee . In 1959 he took over the position of Secretary of the Central Committee, which he held until 1962. From 1962 until 1971 he was Deputy Chairman of the Council of Ministers. He also became a candidate in 1962 and finally a member of the Politburo in 1966. From 1966 to 1971 he was chairman of the State Planning Committee. In 1971 he became First Deputy Chairman of the Council of Ministers.

Zolow was awarded the Order of Georgi Dimitrov as a hero of socialist work .
