Tantei Gakuen Q ( Japanese 探 偵 学園 Q ) is a manga series written by Seimaru Amagi and drawn by Fumiya Satō . The manga, which appeared from 2001 to 2005 and comprises over 4000 pages, was also implemented as an anime television series. It is aimed primarily at a young, male target group and can thus be assigned to the Shōnen genre.

action

The classes of Detective Dan Morihiko (DDS), the most famous detective school in Japan, solve criminal cases. The Q class, consisting of Kyū Renjō, Megumi Minami, Kintaro Touyama, Kazuma Narusawa and Ryu Amakusa, deals with murder cases, secrets and myths as well as investigations against the criminal organization Pluto. This is known for planning almost unsolvable cases that can only be solved by a handful of detectives. She uses hypnosis for her goals, which forces the person to commit murder or suicide. It is triggered by a specific event (e.g. the striking of a clock, the clarification of the existing case, etc.), which then causes the action.

The main character is fourteen-year-old Kyū Renjō, who has wanted to become a detective himself since a detective freed him from the hands of hostage takers as a child. His mother, who raised him alone, is against this profession. She does not tell her son that the detective who saved him back then was his father, who was the partner of Morihiko Dan, the school's founder and the most famous detective in Japan, and who later died in a case.

Publications

Tantei Gakuen Q was published in Japan from 2001 to 2005 in individual chapters in the weekly Shōnen Magazine , one of the manga magazines with the highest circulation . The Kōdansha- Verlag published these individual chapters after their first publication in the magazine in anthologies; a total of 22 books were published and sold over seven million copies in Japan. Since July 2007 the manga has been reissued as Bunkoban by the same publisher .
