The dance shrimp (Rhynchocinetidae) are a family from the order of the decapod shrimp (Decapoda). The approximately 12 species live worldwide in subtropical and tropical seas.
description
The family includes medium-sized, often strikingly red and white striped shrimp. This pattern optically dissolves the body shape and thus helps camouflage the animals. Male dancing shrimp often have enlarged claws on the first pair of legs.
Dance shrimp often live in large groups under overhangs and in dark crevices. Dance shrimp are omnivores but prefer animal food. They like to eat different invertebrates .
Dance shrimps are also kept in aquariums because of their pretty color, but they also like to eat different corals there .
