Tao Tao - animal stories from all over the world ( Japanese タ オ タ オ 絵 本館 世界 動物 ば な し , Tao Tao ehonkan - Sekai dōbutsu-banashi , German "Tao Tao picture book house - world animal stories ") is a Japanese animated series ( anime ) with 52 episodes from 1983 -1985.
content
The titular hero Tao Tao is a little panda bear who lives with his mother Panda in the Waizan Valley in China and with his friends, u. a. the monkey Kiki, the hare Puu and the squirrel Puru who spends time. In each episode, the wise mother Panda tells you one of the many morally based stories and fables that she has learned from her mother, appropriate to a current situation . These deal with living beings from all over the world, such as B. the rainbow bird, the sky calf, the ugly duckling or the Bremen town musicians .
The title song in the German version was composed by Christian Bruhn and sung by Erika Bruhn (from the well-known vocal duo Gitti and Erika ).
Production and publication
The series was co-produced by ZDF and ran there as a German first broadcast from January 28 to April 21, 1984 (episode 1–13), from September 1 to November 14, 1984 (episode 14-25) and from October 23, 1985 to May 14, 1986 (episodes 26-52). Shuichi Nakahara and Tatsuo Shimamura were responsible for the design and direction. In addition to the series, there is also a film about the panda bear Tao Tao - The Little Panda Bear (1981).
In 2004 Universal Music published the first 42 episodes on ten individual DVDs for German-speaking countries . However, the remaining episodes were never released. Instead, Ufa Kids released the complete series in four 2-DVD sets with 13 episodes each between September 2008 and September 2009.
The Bastion-Verlag published 43 comic books with Tao Tao stories that were almost all drawn from the comic studio Interpubli / Barcelona. All but 3 of the cover illustrations for this comic series were created by André Roche / Munich, who also provided the model templates for the Ferrero children's surprise campaign in 1985.
Four paperback books and three albums were also published that deal with the stories of the panda.
