Tapes' n Tapes at the Indian Summer Music Festival 2006 in Glasgow

Tapes' n Tapes is an American indie rock band from Minneapolis , Minnesota . The four members founded the band in 2003 and have already released two records: The first, the EP Tapes' n Tapes , was self- released by the band in 2004 . The first album, The Loon , was released by Ibid Records in 2005 . In April 2006, Tapes' n Tapes switched to the XL Recordings label, which already reissued The Loon in July 2006.

The Loon received several good reviews, including a. from Pitchfork Media , a music website whose releases are said to have a huge impact on a band's success. Tapes' n Tapes has even been compared to alternative bands like Pixies or Pavement . The four musicians made their debut on American television in "Late Night" in July 2006, playing their song "Insistor".

Tapes' n tapes are part of the indie rock culture, their pieces are sometimes relatively slow for indie, rarely even adorned with blues elements. On the other hand, the band offers slightly faster, weakly rocking songs that are based on very clear melodies and are underlaid with pronounced bass and guitar sounds. The slightly scratchy voice of singer Josh Grier is also characteristic of the band's style.
